Rafflesia sighting
Trekking is the main and most rewarding experience you can have while visiting Belum Temenggor. It's literally a journey in the magnificence of the rainforest. Most trails and itineraries will involve parts on boat (since the forest is split by the second largest lake in Malaysia) and parts on hiking. There aren't particularly big elevations in Belum Temenggor and usually the hiking time rarely exceeds one hour of continuous walk. You will also get to see Rafflesia, which is the largest flower in the world.
orang Asli village
Any visit to Royal Belum would not be complete without a stopover at the Orang Asli (aborigines) village. A visit to the Jahai group belonging to the Negrito tribe is a must see. The Jahai group continue live off nature through hunting, fishing and gathering jungle products as their main source of livelihood.
Salt licks
Belum-Temenggor Forest Reserve is probably one of the remaining places where you're still able to view animals roaming freely in their natural habitat. There are two wildlife sighting huts called "bumbungs" stationed near the salt licks located on the north and south part of Sungai Papan. Salt licks are natural salt deposits which animals regularly lick to get their much-needed mineral sustenance.
There are plenty of elephants, tapirs, deer, rhinoceros, wild boars, bears and an estimated 500 tigers wandering around.
Waterfall
You will find shoals of fish, either Kelah, Tengas or Temoleh swimming around in the waterfalls. Most have 3 tiers, but the 3rd tier is closed to the public due to safety reason. Do remember to bring along your swim suit and also extra clothing to change.

Belum Tour

Follow the official route if you prefer planned itinerary and love to be in the crowd. This tour is guided by an assigned tour agency by the state park. You will have the chance to purchase souvenirs like herbs from the aboriginal village. Other attractions are waterfall, Rafflesia spotting and salt licks. RM 10 (local) and RM 20 (foreigner) extra is charged per camera which we will be collecting for the state park.
